Building Information Certificate. 🏠🏢

If you are buying or selling a property and suspect work may have been carried out without appropriate Council or Private Certifier Approvals, you can apply for a Building Information Certificate.

The Building Information Certificate is issued by the Local Council for the Whole or Part of the Building. The Certificate is confirmation that Council will not issue an order for the repair, demolition, alteration, addition or rebuilding of the building. This Certificate is valid for a period of 7 Years.

A Building Information Certificate can be applied for and is lodged with Council.

The application for a Building Information Certificate can be lodged by:

  • The Property Owner
  • A Party with the Property Owners Consent
  • A Purchaser
  • A Public Authority who has issued the property owner a notice of their intention to apply for such certificate
